Lest We Forget

On the morning of the 25th of April 1915 Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed on the beach at Gallipoli, to the awaiting Turkish soliders. Today we remember them, with dawn services and parades in major cities and country towns. What we don't say, are the reasons why they left to go a fight becuase today is about remembrance and giving thanks for the sacrifice those men and women gave to our country. Julia Gillard and the Governor General are in Turkey leaving Wayne Swan and Tony Abbott At the memorial in my beloved Canberra. Anyway, after the Slipper debacle, the Craig Thomson incident and a minority government Ms Gillard probably is relishing in some time away from the brutal Australian Medi? Who knows? Or as the Italians say chissa? With the budget looming in a few short weeks all eyes will be on the federal government to see if they really can bring it back to surplus this year? Politically it sounds good, but most economists believe that it would be better to remain in deficit and be economically ok in these uncertain times rather than risk major damage to our economy if we do indeed have another GFC, and so we have exciting times ahead.

The Beginning

Politics!! I live for the stuff. it's the first thing that I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about before I go to sleep, if you, like me, are one of those people then this is for you. This blog will be thoughts, comments ans opinions of a year 12 politics student, me! Since the age of 11, and the 2007 Federal Election I have been interested in Australian politics and for the last few years I have been getting more interested in global politics. This year, in my final year of high school I am studying economics, and law as well as politics and English and I love them all. Although this blog will be poltics all the time i might comment on the economy, as quoting my teacher, 'Economics is politics with the fun taken out!', not that i so much as agree with him, as reaslise that the idea the two are linked, and directly affect eachother. Now hopefully I can take you on a journey through my mind and that of a teenage political nerd.
